Motown Concert To Benefit Grass River Natural Area

Bay View Music Festival will kick off its 2010 season at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 19 with ‘A Tribute to Motown,’ a concert featuring the music of Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, and many more. A sell-out crowd is expected for this one-of-a kind event that will be held in the historic John M. Hall Auditorium, just north of Petoskey on US 31.

The show is the first stop of a brand new touring show that features Jerome Collins, a New York City based vocalist and founding member of the male a cappella group Straight No Chaser. Collins, a seasoned R&B performer, also performed the role of Simba in a critically acclaimed international tour of The Lion King and has been hailed as “one of the most engaging young singers on the scene.”

In an effort to reach out to the many non-profit organizations in the area, $5 of each $20 concert ticket will go directly to one of several charitable organizations named partners in the project. The Grass River Natural Area is one of the named charities.

“We are thrilled that Chris Ludwa agreed to name Grass River Natural Area as one of its charity partners for this exciting concert,” said Grass River Director Debbie Hershey. “There is such a strong link between arts and nature. This is a great opportunity to enjoy music while supporting us with the important work we do.”

The concert begins at 8:00 p.m. in Hall Auditorium on the campus of Bay View Association, which is open to the public. Patrons who order online can click on the ticket to benefit the Grass River Natural Area, and those buying at the door will have a similar method to ensure their support goes to the organization of their choice. Seating is not reserved and doors will open at 7:30pm.

Tickets can be ordered by phone at 800-595-4849 or online at www.bayviewfestival.tix.com. Patrons will be asked which charity they wish to support after logging on. For those wanting to purchase in person, the Bay View Box Office is open 9:30-Noon Monday through Saturday and one hour prior to concerts, beginning June 12.
